Doors
Doors can connect two rooms or, for a one-way exit, lead from one room to the next.
A door can be open, closed, or locked. A locked door normally requires a key, but you can define one without a key when a room action will unlock it—for example, a lever-operated door.
To make a key, create an item template with the Key item type. Enable Destroy key on use if the key should snap in two when a player locks or unlocks the door.
Set or clear a door
Section titled “Set or clear a door”To add or edit a door, open the room management screen and select the + in the desired direction. Select Set door to configure it or Clear door to remove it.
Default state
Section titled “Default state”In multiplayer worlds, doors reset according to their zone’s respawn time. When the zone respawns, every door in it returns to its default state.
One approach is to configure the entrance side as locked by default with a key, while configuring the exit side as closed by default. A zone reset will then not leave a player locked inside.
Symmetry
Section titled “Symmetry”Doors usually connect rooms that have exits in both directions. When you create a door on a two-way exit, its name, default state, and key settings are initially copied to both sides.
The two sides can have different names and states. Create the door first, which creates both sides, and then edit only the side that should differ.
